Overview

On May 19th, Oliver Wyman experts will participate in a webinar hosted by The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). The topic will focus on how hoteliers have risen to the occasion and opened (or plan to open) their doors to those working on the front line in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. As states continue to reopen, and with summer around the corner, there is hope that guest demand will begin to return. During this panel discussion, we will discuss what it takes to house COVID-19 responders, how to handle the return of guest demand, and how to potentially operate supporting both responders and guests.

Agenda

1. Hotels as an alternate use

With occupancy rates at historic lows, there are several opportunities for hotels to assist in the fight against COVID-19. We will highlight three temporary alternate use cases of a hotel, and highlight the specific alternate use of housing COVID-19 responders.

2. Housing COVID-19 responders

Several high-profile opportunities have risen for hotels to fill unfilled rooms with COVID-19 responders. We will discuss the looming trade-offs between filling occupancy with COVID-19 responders as transient and corporate demand returns.

3. Panel discussion

Hospitality and healthcare experts will join the conversation to discuss operational and commercial considerations.

4. Q&A

Panelists will be joined by Kara Brooks (co-author of the Hotel-Hospital Conversation and Ops Playbook from the American Society for Health Care Engineering) an open question and answer session regarding the Hotel-Hospital Conversations and Ops Playbook.
