Michael is a managing partner and the global head of Capabilities at Oliver Wyman, and a member of the Global Leadership Team.
In his role, Michael oversees Oliver Wyman’s global investment capacity to incubate new businesses. Prior to his current role, Michael served as a managing partner of the Americas where he oversaw Oliver Wyman’s activities in offices across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia. He also served as the head of Oliver Wyman’s Financial Services in the Americas.
Since joining the firm in 1999, Michael has conducted both strategy and risk-focused studies across a range of financial institutions including banks, mortgage companies, securities firms, asset managers, pension funds, alternative investors, insurers, and central banks in North America, Europe, and Asia. His work and vast experience include advising clients on business strategy (across a range of topics such as corporate finance decisions and acquisition and divestitures), treasury and balance sheet management, customer and product value measurement and management, business process optimization, credit process, and policy design, sales force and distribution management, and a full spectrum of risk and capital management and measurement issues.
He is also a frequent speaker at industry and client events, the author of thought pieces on a wide array of topics, and is regularly quoted in the press on industry issues.
Michael holds an MSE degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MSE and BS in Chemical Engineering, and a BA in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated magna cum laude.
He is fluent in Czech, Italian, and Slovak.
